Integrations — Akamai (Linode)

Run Akamai (Linode) Next to Every Other Cloud You Use

Linode, now part of Akamai, is known for straightforward pricing and Akamai's global edge network. Connect your existing Linode account to Sencai and it sits next to Hetzner, AWS, Azure, or any of the other providers Sencai supports — one inventory, one provisioning workflow, one audit trail. Nothing about your Linode contract or billing changes unless you ask it to.

Connect the account you already have

Connecting Akamai (Linode) to Sencai is bring-your-own-cloud: you hand Sencai API access to your existing account, and everything else about that account stays exactly as it was. The contract, the invoice, and the relationship with Akamai remain yours. Credentials are encrypted at rest, and you can revoke Sencai's access from your Linode account at any time — Sencai never holds a credential you can't take back. If you'd rather not run the account yourself, Sencai can provision and bill Linode capacity under its own account instead: one contract, one invoice, the provider's cost plus a 2% margin shown as its own line on your statement. Both models work inside the same organisation — start with your own account and add Sencai-managed capacity later, or the other way around, without migrating anything that's already running.

Everything you already have, inventoried on connect

The moment your Akamai (Linode) account is connected, Sencai inventories what's already running: instances, virtual networks, storage volumes, and DNS records, all pulled directly from the account rather than reconstructed from guesses. There's no migration step and no requirement to touch anything before Sencai can see it. From there, management is resource by resource. A server you've had running for two years can sit in the inventory as a read-only record for as long as you want; when you're ready, you opt it into active management one resource at a time. Nothing gets provisioned, resized, or touched until you tell it to — discovery and control are two separate steps, on purpose.

Provision, resize, and retire instances the same way everywhere

Once a Linode instance is under active management, starting, stopping, resizing, and destroying it goes through the same workflow you'd use on any other connected provider — same screens, same API, no provider-specific detour. That consistency is deliberate: a team running Linode next to Hetzner or AWS shouldn't need a second set of habits for a server that happens to sit on a different provider. Provisioning on Akamai (Linode) has been verified end-to-end against a live account rather than shipped on documentation alone. For the servers themselves — whether they're on Linode, bare metal, or anywhere else — Sencai's fleet agent adds monitoring, patching, software inventory, and approval-gated runbooks, so an incident response procedure written once runs identically regardless of which cloud the box is on.

A record of every change, a single view of the cost

Every action Sencai takes on your Akamai (Linode) account — and every other connected provider — lands in an append-only, hash-chained audit log. Each entry links to the one before it, so the chain shows if anything was ever altered after the fact. "Who resized this instance, and when" becomes a query you run, not a ticket you file and wait on. Alongside that, FinOps cost visibility puts Linode spend on the same screen as every other provider you've connected, with anomaly detection watching for spend that doesn't match the pattern. Linode's straightforward, predictable pricing carries over here rather than getting lost in a bigger bill — it's one line among several, not a number you have to check separately. If you're on Sencai-managed billing, the provider's cost and Sencai's 2% margin appear as separate line items — never bundled into one number you have to take on faith.

Frequently asked

Do I need to migrate my Linode servers to use Sencai?

No. Connecting Akamai (Linode) is bring-your-own-cloud: Sencai gets API access to manage what's there, but your instances stay exactly where they are, under your existing Linode contract. Nothing moves, nothing gets recreated. You can disconnect Sencai's access from your Linode account at any time, and everything keeps running as it did before.

Who do I actually pay — Sencai or Akamai (Linode)?

Depends on the model. With your own connected account, you keep paying Akamai (Linode) directly and Sencai never touches billing. If you choose Sencai-managed capacity instead, you get one invoice from Sencai covering the provider's cost plus a 2% margin shown separately. Both can run in the same organisation at once.

What can Sencai actually do with Akamai (Linode) today?

Sencai discovers and inventories your existing instances, networks, storage, and DNS records on connect, and lets you provision, resize, and retire instances from the same workflow used across every other connected provider — verified against a live Linode account, not just documentation. The fleet agent adds monitoring, patching, and runbook automation on the servers themselves. Coverage varies by provider and expands over time; see all integrations for the current picture.

Is my Linode API token safe with Sencai?

It's encrypted at rest the moment you connect it, and it's yours to revoke at any moment: pull access from your Akamai (Linode) account and Sencai's connection ends immediately — no support ticket, no waiting on Sencai to acknowledge it. The credential stays yours; Sencai only holds an encrypted copy for as long as you allow it.

Why does Sencai call it "Akamai (Linode)"?

Akamai acquired Linode in 2022, and the two names now describe the same cloud: Linode's straightforward, per-instance pricing, running inside Akamai's global network. Sencai uses both names together because that's how customers actually search for and refer to it, and because both names still describe something real about what you're running on.
